THE IMPORTANCE OF SKIN EXFOLIATION AS WE GET OLDER

NON ABLATIVE SKIN REMODELING “THE SCALPEL-LESS® FACE LIFT” BY DR. MARK E. VAN WORMER

In our GreatSkin® Clinical Centers, we seek to satisfy the current demands of fast- paced, aging baby boomers. The new trend is toward less invasive, no down time, in and out, rapid, clinic-based treatments. No one has any time for surgical recovery these days, it seems.
Therefore, we have combined three technologies together, which can provide enormous benefit to the face, with literally no down time.
These three technologies are Erbium: Yag superficial facial resurfacing, use of the Skin Master II ultrasonic facial exfoliator, and finally, treatments to wrinkles using the Aramis® 1540 nm Erbium: Glass Laser.
First, the
skin is thoroughly cleansed and degreased with acetone. The Erbium: Yag
laser has a frequency of light, which has great affinity to water. This
means that the laser can reliably remove 50-100 microns of skin rapidly
and without any pain. The result is near complete exfoliation of all the
dead epidermal cells, without injury to the living dermis!
The “ash”
that remains behind is ultrasonically exfoliated with the Skin Master
II high frequency ultrasound paddle. Following complete removal of the
ash, the Skin Master II is used to drive in the two most pharmacologically
active products deep into the dermis, the GreatSkin® 25% L-Ascorbic
Acid Serum, followed by the GreatSkin® Scalpel-less® Facelift
cream (containing DMAE, Retinol, CO Q-10, Copper, Zinc, Grape Seed Extract,
alpha Lipoic Acid, and Hyaluronic Acid)
The previous procedure is then followed by a
thorough treatment of all lines using the
Aramis® Erbium-Glass Laser. A recent 14-month
clinical evaluation of the long-term results
from the Erbium-Glass laser showed marked
increase in dermal thickness and major
improvement in wrinkles using ultrasound
imaging and profilometric evaluation. (American
Journal of Dermatologic Surgery, 2002; 28:926-
931).
The patient then walks right out of the office with no redness, pain or thermal injury to heal. Makeup can be immediately applied. We recommend five treatments, one month apart for optimal results.
The GreatSkin® Scalpel-less® Facelift, can be combined with Botox®, Cymetra®, Collagen, ePTFE Soft Tissue implants, upper or lower lid Blepharoplasties, as adjunctive therapy for further enhancement. Our outpatient surgical center procedures complement the Scalpel-less® Facelift. Our long term followup skin therapies offered by our clinical estheticians augment the results of our minimally invasive skin therapies. Combine all this with your customized home program of internal and external antioxidant therapy, sun avoidance therapy, low glycemic diet and exercise and you are doing the most one can do to prevent age related complications to the skin.
