Issue #1 - HOW GRETA MET GUY
Greta
really needed this assignment. It wasn’t just the money (which was excellent) but it was the fact that an article in
Face Magazine could be her ticket to journalism stardom.
She paused before her bedroom mirror to massage a
dollop of GreatSkin Orange Sorbet Body Crème over her body, and inhaled deeply, letting the scent of avocado and Sweet Almond
invade her senses as she quickly dressed for the
day.
Okay, maybe a five-minute
interview with the actor Zane Craven wasn’t quite the big time, but Greta believed in stepping stones. This was a start.
Now all she had to do was make a strong impression
on Guy Thompson, the editor in chief at Face. Easy,
right?
But maybe not so easy.
After all, Guy Thompson was one of New York City’s most eligible bachelors and as handsome as they come.
It was hot. And as
luck would have it, the number six train wasn’t air conditioned, so by the time Greta ascended the stairs at Union Square and
made her way to Face headquarters, she was beat.
She practically dragged herself into the building,
her Ferragamo strappy sandals mercilessly digging
into ankles. Greta promised her feet a treat at the
end of the day - with GreatSkin Peppermint Foot Therapy. She imagined the peppermint and eucalyptus extracts healing and soothing. That
would be just the thing to repair and restore her
tortured feet.
Thankfully, the building
was deliciously cool. The elevator doors closed slowly
and Greta suddenly caught a glimpse of her reflection
in the stainless steel. Truth be told, she looked
- how shall we say it - frazzled. What to do? She
was minutes away from meeting Guy Thompson - and
she looked frazzled! The elevator suddenly rang for
the ninth floor and the doors opened. Greta quickly
approached the receptionist.
"I have
an appointment - but first where’s the ladies?"
The girl at the desk
put down her tube of GreatSkin Moisture Mitts Hand Therapy, pointed one perfectly pink manicured finger in the direction of the ladies
room. Once inside, Greta reached into her Fendi bag
and found a tube of GreatSkin’s Vibran-C Lip Treatment. She dabbed some on her lower lip, then top, letting the moisture soften her
smile and relax her mood and lift her spirits.
"Zane Craven
isn’t an easy interview," Guy began. "He’s notoriously eccentric." Guy stood in front of the window and casually rolled up the sleeves of his blue
dress shirt.
"I’ve
handled eccentrics before," Greta said. "I’m sure I can handle him."
"Yeah,
but what if he tries to handle you?"
"What do
you mean?" Greta noticed that Guy was smiling slightly, that beneath this I’m-all-business-veneer, Guy seemed to be flirting with her.
"I just
mean, you need to be careful of him. He is a movie
star."
Greta looked Guy in
the eyes. That’s when she saw it. The twinkle. Yes, he was definitely flirting with her.
And, that’s
when Greta knew--she had the assignment.
