Issue
#21 - Greta in La La Land
Greta walked across the Paramount Pictures studio lot and into the RKO building. She thought of the thousands of movie stars, directors and screenwriters who had come and gone. And now, she was a part of it. Only, she wasn't really, because, despite the glamour she still longed for her life in New York.
Well, truthfully, she longed for Guy Thompson and her days at Face Magazine.
Greta straightened her new Prada squiggle-print suede shift. She had seen it in the October issue of Vogue and until now, it would have been completely beyond her means. However, now that she was working for Zane, it seemed as if no expense was too much. In fact, the studio had given her a wardrobe allowance with the instructions that if she didn't use it, she would lose it.
Greta quickly walked out of the elevator and down the hall, past the other production offices. She waved to the story editor at Drew Barrymore's company and smiled at the assistant from Cameron Diaz's company before entering the offices of Bad Boy Productions, Zane's ultra-hip movie company. The reception area was designed in a style that simply screamed "edgy" - full of steel and glass and black leather chairs.
Nonetheless, Greta knew this was an opportunity of a lifetime, and she needed to make the most of it. That's why she was so glad she took such good care of her skin. Since coming to L.A. In fact, she had just begun her new GreatSkin regime, starting her mornings and ending her evenings with GreatSkin's Aqua Cleanser. She loved inhaling the pristine scent of aloe and rosemary and especially how it made her skin feel so squeaky-clean. Next, she applied GreatSkin's Aqua Eye Cream. It did wonders to smooth out the fine lines with Shea Butter and Apricot Kernal Oil. After this Greta moisturized with GreatSkin's Aqua Crème to replenish and replump her skin and undo any damage the California sunshine might cause.
And before going to the studio, Greta applied GreatSkin's Retexturing Face Primer. It was her secret silky serum that gave her a flawless glow. And finally, she applied GreatSkin's Mineral Sheer Tint SPF 20 Moisturizer. It made her skin appear perfect and radiant and gave her the look of having been out all day driving down Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu.
Greta said hello to her new assistant, Margaret, who smiled and handed Greta a cup of her favorite French Roast, along with a copy of Daily Variety and The Hollywood Reporter. "There's a delivery for you. I put it in your office."
"Probably more scripts from Zane," Greta laughed, but then when she walked into her office, she saw the big bouquet of lilacs. Yes, lilacs, exactly like the ones from Guy Thompson's family home on Martha's Vineyard. Could it be? Greta looked for a card, but found none. She sighed, inhaling the beautiful and familiar scent and wondered--where was Guy now and was he thinking of her as much as she was thinking of him?
