#24 - Greta, the Spy
Greta couldn't help but feel a little guilty. Here she was driving up the Pacific Coast Highway with Zane Craven, the wind blowing gently through her hair and the sun setting in the west over the ocean, when all she could think about was Guy. She had met with him the night before at LeDome, and over cocktails he described her assignment for Face. "Try to follow Zane everywhere," he said, staring into her eyes. "I want you to write a story about the real Zane Craven. Beyond the Hollywood indie bad boy. The readers of Face want more than just a p.r. profile. They want--"
"The dirt?" Greta asked.
"The truth."
Greta stared out the window at the glimmering lights on Sunset Boulevard. She felt a little sad about the whole thing. She was in love with Guy and wanted to do anything it took to get back in his world, but she had also grown to like Zane and she didn't really want to hurt him.
"Maybe," Greta began. "What you see is what you get with Zane."
Guy laughed. "I doubt it."
Later that night, Greta thought about the article as she stood before her bathroom mirror and carefully applied a few drops of GreatSkin's Gentle Eye Make Up Remover onto a cotton pad and wiped away her mascara and shadow. It was perfect for her sensitive skin and she could even use it to remove lipstick and foundation. Next, Greta rinsed her face and gently massaged her skin with Greatskin's Oxygen Revitalizing Cleanser. Greta loved the way the cleanser made her skin feel--awake and revitalized. It contained Japanese Green Tea and Ginseng which promotes oxygen. Then, Greta applied GreatSkin's Vital Hydrant Toner. Greta inhaled the delicious aroma of Aloe Vera. It was so smoothing to her summer skin. Smiling wistfully, Greta dabbed on a droplet of her secret weapon in the war against aging skin--GreatSkin's Red Tea Extract, a very special super anti-oxidant. And finally, Greta treated her skin to GreatSkin's Glycolic Moisture Crème, a light, oil free moisturizer that did wonders to diminish her fine lines. It was her favorite reconditioning treatment, not just because it contains passionflower and pineapple (yum!), but also because it contains Vitamin A, C and E which protects her skin from the effects of free radicals.
However, nothing could protect Greta now from the complications of love. She turned up the music in Zane's vintage MGB and put on her Raybans. No, she didn't love Zane, but she liked him. He was fun and he certainly liked her.
Zane shifted gears and looked at Greta. "I have a surprise for you," he smiled.
"Really?" she laughed. "What is it?"
"I made reservations at the Four Seasons Resort Spa up in Santa Barbara."
"The spa at Four Seasons!?" Greta laughed.
"Yes," Zane said. "You've been working so hard and the paparazzi have really hounded you, I thought you deserved some pampering.
Greta thought of Guy and how he was wrong about Zane. Behind the Hollywood indie film bad boy exterior, there was a real sweetie pie.
