MSM: The basis of the GreatSkin® Rejuvenation Line.

Why did GreatSkin® choose to base our own line of skin care and body care products on the molecule MSM?

MSM (Methyl-Sulfonyl-Methane) is a ubiquitous naturally occurring colorless, odorless, stable pure white crystalline powder which is freely utilized by the body for almost every cellular function known. That is why there are so many recent articles suggesting that MSM is a panacea (cure all) for many illnesses. MSM is a naturally occurring sulfa molecule which is chemically important in all cell membrane functions and particularly in the production of collagen. It is neither a medicine nor a drug. It is the eighth most abundant substance in the human body and penetrates cells like water. It has a safety (toxicity) profile as low as water. Any amount can be administered topically or orally with no side effects! The body will simply take what it needs and convert the MSM into a variety of sulfur containing Amino acids, as well as collagen synthesis and cellular membrane synthesis and discard what is not required.

What is the effective dose for MSM orally?
MSM can be started at 10 grams per day for about one month, than dropped back to 3 grams daily for maximal effect. Our MSM Capsules are nontoxic, non allergic, in fact treats allergic symptoms of all types quite effectively as well as a host of other medical disorders including chronic pain and joint inflammation, chronic immune disorders, chronic diarrhea (from malabsorption or intestinal parasites), diabetes, gastric irritation and peptic ulcer disease. But the one thing MSM does best is treat the sulfa containing organs: skin (the largest organ of the body), muscle and connective tissue.

The skin is our largest excretory gland, beside the kidneys, in releasing toxins from the body. Optimal function of the skin depends on the health, structure and function of the apocrine and eccrine glands of the skin. Hair and nail growth are "excretion" products in the form of keratin, a substance high in organic sulfur. MSM provides the skin with the most important product it needs for synthesis of collagen, elastin and apocrine and eccrine glandular function. The result? Thick, smooth, wrinkle-free, functioning skin which excretes toxins and keratin products, detoxifying the body and yielding beautiful hair and nails. In fact, MSM is quite effective in the treatment of adolescent Acne, cystic Acne and Acne Rosacea.

MSM enhances tissue pliability, smoothness, wound healing, dissolves scar tissue, smoothes surface blemishes, prevents blistering, relieves the pain of burns and is a natural topical anti-inflammatory and antibiotic. It prevents crosslinking of collagen from free radical damage (which causes wrinkles) and produces a strong flexible bond between cells resulting in soft, smooth, supple thick pliable skin. MSM taken orally also functions as a broad-spectrum internal antibiotic resisting infection and warding off existing or threatening parasitic infections (from single celled organisms to large complex parasites, like worms). We chose to base our line on MSM because of the tremendous healing properties of this substance. When combined with vitamin C, either topically or orally, the effect of MSM is augmented. So, we simultaneously developed our GreatSkin® C Serum to be used with our GreatSkin® MSM line and, of course, recommend a host of antioxidants containing vitamin C.

What are the components of our GreatSkin® MSM Rejuvenation Program?
We have developed a 15% MSM Fruit Toner which also contains Australian Tea Tree oil, the combination of which is antifungal, anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial. Topical GreatSkin® C Serum with Ester C, Co-Q10, pycnogenol and grape seed extract to enhance the effect of MSM in the skin and Nutra+MSM Lotion Vitamin C, Vitamin E, aloe and jojoba.

The three most powerful products are the Omega Peel with Activator, which results in marked exfoliation of the dead epidermis without irritating acids to drive in the MSM and vitamin C to the dermal layer. The Crystal Mask follows the Omega Peel, which again is a potent MSM containing mask to drive MSM into the dermis.
